According to the Ministry of Power and Energy, since the implementation of the QR-based National Fuel Pass, Sri Lanka’s monthly fuel import bill has dropped from USD 500 million to USD 230 million.
As per to the Energy Ministry, Sri Lanka’s monthly fuel distribution to the public through the QR-code-based quota system has resulted in significant savings for the state.
The Energy Ministry noted, six million vehicles have already registered for the National Fuel Pass, and 93% of the country’s fuel stations have implemented the QR-based fuel dispensing system.
