A surprise search operation conducted last Saturday at the Welikada Prison has led to the discovery of six mobile phones and several other electronic devices inside K Ward, a section where nearly one hundred inmates are housed. Among the detainees in this ward are notable figures such as former Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Nalin Fernando, and S.M. Ranjith.
According to prison authorities, while the mobile phones were found during the raid, none of the devices contained SIM cards.
