Mithree criticizes Wijedasa’s 22nd amendment to the constitution, saying, “What people asked for is not this!”

The government is attempting to implement the 22nd amendment in order to demonstrate to the people that they are clean, but this amendment has not met the people’s expectations, according to chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and former President Maithreepala Sirisen .
The former president made these remarks during a media briefing at the SLFP headquarters on Darley Road today (1).
He went on to say that this is completely different from the 19th amendment, and that until the current president’s tenure ends, he has all the powers of the 20th amendment and many more, and that he will propose amendments during the committee stage in parliament.

Because of the current regime’s poor economic and social management, the country will revert to the 1970s and 1980s, and childbirths will have to take place in homes, he added.
The government is unwilling to correct their error in appointing unsuitable people to positions of power.
The main slogan that the government presented to the people during the last elections was national security, and that and all other slogans were ignored at present according to Maithreepala Sirisena.
