Minister Wijayadasa Rajapaksa Affirms Judicial Independence: Critiques Past Actions of Janatha Vimukti Peramuna – Sri Lanka Latest News

According to the Constitution, the Minister of Justice, Prison Reforms and Constitutional Affairs Dr. Wijayadasa Rajapaksa emphasized yesterday (07) that there is no ability to grant and exercise judicial power to anyone other than the judiciary in this country. Sri Lanka Latest News

Stating that there is a judicial system properly established in this country according to the constitution, the minister also said that the general public will draw certain conclusions based on the past activities of the members of the People’s Liberation Front.

Janatha Vimukti Peramuna, which set fire to 27 courts in 1988-1989, also stated that they set fire to the Homagama court and put the judge’s coat on a donkey and walked around the city.

Mr. Wijayadasa Rajapaksa recalled that the Janata Vimukti Peramuna entrusted the task of administering justice to a Kuluharaka and mentioned that it was the Kuluharaka who became the symbol of justice at that time.

Minister Wijayadasa Rajapaksa said that former Member of Parliament K.D. Expressing his views in the conversation that took place yesterday (07) in Parliament regarding a statement made by Mr. Lalkantha.
