Minister Susil now expresses regret for tear-gassing teachers and principals at Pelawatta: Within 24 hours of the boycott on ministers attending the function yesterday I Sri Lanka Latest News

The Ministry of Education has issued a special announcement regarding the teacher-principal protest. Sri Lanka Latest News

The announcement further states that it expresses its concern regarding the incident that occurred during the protest.

The announcement further stated that the Minister of Education expressed his regret to the principals and teachers who were aggrieved by this incident which happened at a time when the teacher-principal and other education sectors were working to solve the discrepancies and problems and the Minister of Education was abroad for an education conference.

On the 24th, the police fired tear gas and water cannons to disperse the teacher-principal protest held in Pelawatta, Battaramulla, where several people were injured.
