Minister of Energy visit India

Hon. (Eng.) Kumara Jayakody, Minister of Energy, Government of Sri Lanka visited India on 23-24 September 2025 to attend the 6th International Energy Conference & Exhibition (IECE 2025) organized in New Delhi by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in partnership with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and the New, Emerging & Strategic Technologies (NEST) Division of the Ministry of External Affairs. The theme of the Conference was “Driving India’s Energy Transition: Pathway to Net-Zero”.

Hon. Minister addressed the Special Ministerial Plenary Session on ‘Scaling up Solar and Wind for Round-the-Clock Power Supply’. Hon. Minister also visited the IECE Exhibition where modern technology and best practices in the field of new and renewable energy in India were displayed. On the sidelines of the conference, Hon. Minister participated in a Roundtable with CXOs of prominent Indian companies in the domain of power and energy. Hon Minister also met the Chief Managing Director of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).

During the visit, bilateral meetings were held with Hon’ble Minister for Power, Housing & Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal Khattar and Hon’ble Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Shri Pralhad Joshi. During the meetings, discussions were held on the bilateral projects such as the power grid interconnection and the potential for energy exports from Sri Lanka to India as well as furthering collaboration in the field of new and renewable energy.

During the course of the visit, Hon Minister Energy also visited an ISO certified state of the art, 1.2 GW solar module manufacturing facility.
