The Ministry of Health has issued a concerning report highlighting the alarming state of mental health among schoolchildren across the country.
According to the findings:
75% of schoolchildren reportedly lack a trusted relative or friend they can confide in.
22.4% are affected by feelings of loneliness.
18% exhibit symptoms of depression.
11.9% suffer from sleep disturbances related to anxiety.
These statistics underline the growing mental health crisis faced by students in Sri Lanka and call for urgent intervention and support mechanisms within both educational and community frameworks.
