Employees of the Water Supply Board, Manampitiya Mahaweli Ganga left and right bank sand workers and street owners also joined for this operation.
He said that due to the rapid fall in the water level of Manampitiya Mahaweli river under the current dry weather conditions, there was difficulty in providing drinking water to 17,500 families in Polonnaru district in the past.
The Polonnaruwa office of the National Water Resources Board states that more than 25,000 families covering Polonnaruwa, Kadurwela, Gallalella, Navanagara and Bandiwewa are supplied with drinking water through the water pumping station located along the Manampitiya Mahaweli River.
