Mawrata Predicted It Exactly…! From May 11, 2025: Major Upheavals Ahead in the Next 18 Months — If Government Suppression Will End in Tragedy, Warns Astrologer KCJ Rathnayake.

The coming eighteen months will be full of upheavals – but the country and the government will hold together.”
This is the theme of the prediction I intend to talk about today.

You may already know that on May 18 Rahu enters the sign of Aquarius. Rahu and the sign of Aquarius together have always signified a moment of powerful impact on Sri Lanka’s socio-political history. This sign, Aquarius, is the ascendant (lagna) of Sri Lanka’s national chart. Whenever Rahu travels over that ascendant, we see social and political upheavals, disruptions and turbulence in society arise in Sri Lanka. Likewise, Rahu’s entry into Aquarius in 2025 will especially affect Sri Lanka. From May 18, 2025 until December 2026 Rahu will transit through Aquarius. So what can happen because of this?

The events of the past will not repeat themselves in exactly the same way. If they did, that would be strange. But we must still treat the past as evidence in order to strengthen and validate the predictions we make.

Because of Rahu entering Aquarius, let us see what is likely to happen to Sri Lanka from May onwards. Under the main theme I stated above, I will tell you 12 points. The first is this: Rahu’s journey through Aquarius from May 18, 2025 and the following 18 months will inevitably become a highly decisive period for the survival of the present National People’s Power (NPP) government. You will see this very clearly in the period ahead.

The second point is this: when Rahu passes over the ascendant of Sri Lanka’s national chart, whichever government is in power at that time, that government will be presented with an opportunity to take bold, challenging, revolutionary and fearless decisions that will greatly benefit society—decisions that can bring good to the country and the people. Whatever the present government is, whoever the President is, destiny offers them an excellent opportunity in Sri Lanka’s history to ignore the challenges and do what is right for the country quickly and correctly, for the sake of the nation’s well-being.

If they grasp that message properly, the present government will move very rapidly onto a radical, reformist path. From that, what we can largely expect is that in the fields of education, the economy, socio-politics, laws and regulations, social structures and hierarchies, there will be an opportunity to modernise and reform all of these under a series of reforms and turn the country into a new nation. When this government came to power, they too said they were going to build a new country. Accordingly, destiny has created that opportunity for them from May 18, 2025 onward.

On a previous occasion I stated publicly that the date chosen for the parliamentary election was inauspicious. My view was that if they had postponed that date and used another date for the general election, it would have been far better. We can already see the adverse effects of that choice. In 2020 as well, a two-thirds majority was obtained. There was a similar planetary transit at that time too. That government very quickly fell into disrepute. They lost their legitimacy. Even with a two-thirds majority, they ultimately failed midway.

I am not saying that the exact same thing will happen to this government. But we must always learn lessons from those precedents and past events. Therefore, if the government does not make use of this historic, divine opportunity that has come to them; if they ignore it; if they waste it; or if they use it in the wrong way—what will happen? A chance like this will never again come to this government. That shows that, depending on how they act over these 18 months, the likelihood is that they will continue to fail. That is why I said that this is a highly decisive 18-month period for the survival and future course of the government. But if they move in a good direction, it will be extremely good for the country.

While the government is implementing its programme, at the same time, and in opposition to it, various political forces in society will quickly rise up. It must especially be noted that these are not traditional political parties. They are new forces—forces that emerge with reformist, modern characteristics. Their shape and form are different. They may be things we have not seen so far. They can become a major challenge to the traditional political parties. These oppositional political forces and alternative socio-political ideologies will rise against the government. We will see this from around May onwards. No matter how many good things the government does, strong opposition will rise against it.

However, even as these forces rise, without limiting or suppressing them, the government has more than enough space to proceed, trusting in its own manifesto and policy framework without clashing head-on with those forces. That is how the planetary influences are arranged. Ignoring obstacles and challenges, the government will have the power to implement its policies and programme. Destiny has given that opportunity. So we hope the government moves in that direction.

Next, if the government thinks of crushing or oppressing those political forces or individuals who emerge against its manifesto—if it tries to silence them or uses power against them in various repressive ways—the end of that path will be a tragedy. That is one of my predictions. Along with that, we can expect the future survival of the present government to be cut short. I said earlier that this is not a game according to these planetary transits—and this is why.

What is required is not to destroy those forces but to work with an understanding that they exist. The government cannot create an environment where there are no opposing forces or dissenters and then try to work in that vacuum. If the government thinks, “We should govern this country and implement our programme in a situation where nobody opposes what we do,” from that point onwards the journey of the government will end. It will end in tragedy. We have seen such situations three times in the past: the JVP of 1971, the JVP of 1988–89, and the LTTE in 2007–2008. None of those situations ended in victory for the forces that tried to overturn the state. Therefore, if those past experiences are used properly, this period can be brought to an end with a happy outcome rather than a tragedy.

The protests, dissent and eruptions of disagreement that arise against the present government can be weakened by the government using strategies, tactics, and public opinion cleverly and methodically. That is what Rahu does. It gives a very subtle, practical intelligence. People realise only after the result has been achieved what exactly happened.

You may remember that in the eras of some previous governments, certain people who very loudly agitated against those governments—who shouted in the streets and led from the front—after some time became part of the very same governments they had opposed. How does that happen? There is a method that influences events to turn out that way. During Rahu’s transit through Aquarius, those subtle methods of gaining victory and weakening opposing camps become available. The ascendant of the country is the “head” of Sri Lanka. The head of Sri Lanka is governed by the President and the government. The government has access to that knowledge. It descends according to the planetary transit. Whether or not they use it is another matter.

Likewise, the government is not being urged by the planets to act in a way that shows it doing everything alone. The planetary influences ask that the government take on a humble approach of acting on the basis of a broad national consensus. That is, instead of saying “this is our work alone,” they should approach it as something that is being done out of national necessity and on the basis of a national consensus. If they take that approach, it will succeed. That is how Sri Lanka has always achieved victory. Accordingly, through this history too, destiny—through Rahu—is giving that message to the rulers in power. How they receive that message is something neither I nor you know. Only they themselves will know that.

Also, during this period we can expect more strikes, trade union actions, disruptions, breakdowns of public peace and acts of violence. Social unrest will intensify in many different forms. There will be both organised and spontaneous events. This 18-month period will be one where public unrest increases.

However, none of these oppositional, disruptive actions will be able to stop the journey of the government. Nor will they be able to achieve success through such methods. They will inevitably be defeated. Just as in the JVP insurrection of 1971, in 1988–89, and in the activities of the LTTE, any oppositional political party that raises its head through violent, insurrectionary methods will certainly be defeated. Then, even the opposition parties will receive a message from this. If they conduct their political activities in a very peaceful manner without moving into self-destructive conditions, it will be good for the country and for you.

Those who plan strikes, trade union actions and activities that disrupt essential services, disturb public peace and create unrest in the country may think they can achieve their goals that way—but that will not happen. It will end in defeat. Serious harm can occur to both sides. That too is a clear message that Rahu in Aquarius gives to the oppositional political parties.

As I said earlier, new political forces will also rise. These are entirely new political trends—reformist. These new socio-political movements will become a challenge not only to the government but also to the traditional opposition. In fact, they will become the greatest challenge to the traditional opposition. Rahu’s transit through Aquarius also carries a message for the traditional opposition.

What is that message? Your actions must either transform in the direction of reform and modernisation, or you will be forced to march under the banner of a new force that arises. Rahu gives many such messages. The strong message to traditional political parties is this: if you continue in the same old traditional way, you will be erased from politics, and new forces will rise by overturning you. Then, no matter how senior or experienced you are, you will end up following behind the newly emerging forces.

Amidst all this, many people speak about Sri Lanka’s economy. When we look at past experiences from times when Rahu has travelled through Aquarius, we do not see large-scale economic collapse. Today everyone is saying things like, “we won’t be able to pay the debt,” “the garment industry will fall,” and so on. But nothing like that appears in my prediction. Therefore, regardless of how much turbulence there may be within the economy, the government has enough room and power to gradually move the country towards a stable economic condition. There is an opportunity for that. During this journey we cannot expect an economic catastrophe of that sort. Somehow, we can expect an improvement in the country’s economic situation. That is a positive message Rahu gives while it is in Aquarius.

Another point is that whenever Rahu travels through Pisces and Aquarius, there have always been foreign interventions in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan government has found itself compelled—sometimes against its will—to enter into controversial agreements and arrangements. In the past too this has happened. To give one example: in 1987–88, even though our rulers were reluctant, they were compelled to agree to the Indo-Lanka Accord. It cannot be said that they did so willingly. But what happened in the end? Those who exerted that pressure were defeated. Sri Lanka did not suffer any lasting harm from it.

Likewise, in this period too we can expect similar foreign interventions—direct or indirect pressures and unwelcome influences—under which Sri Lanka may enter into certain agreements and understandings. But in the past, although such things caused short-term pressure, in the long term they turned out to be beneficial to the country. The pressure that came to harm us has in fact boomeranged back on those who exerted it.

Whenever such planetary transits occur, we have seen foreign pressures manifest. Especially, pressures from India have arisen. It is a strange thing, but it comes together with this configuration. Even now, here and there, we hear news that such pressures exist. Whatever those pressures may be, in the past they have ended up in a way that did not truly harm us, and in a way that brought destruction to those who exerted power over us. So we will watch with open minds to see what happens next. But my prediction is that Sri Lanka will not be disadvantaged by this. That is not a political statement; I say this based on the sequence of planetary movements.

I said earlier that from May 18, 2025 to December 2026, and beyond, the survival of the government will be determined by the decisions it makes and the decisive actions it takes during these 18 months. I want to re-emphasise that.

The next point is something directly and indirectly connected to Sri Lanka. Whether we like it or not, India is our neighbour. During such a planetary transit, what happens is that India, no matter how powerful its position may be, faces serious threats to its existing socio-political stability. Also, the shape and pattern of South Asian politics changes. We can expect this again this time. However, we too will have considerable opportunity to turn this into a directly and indirectly favourable influence for ourselves.

These, then, are the brief points I have put together as a socio-political forecast arising from Rahu’s 18-month transit over the ascendant of Sri Lanka’s national chart from May 18, 2025 to December 2026. Finally, I wish to remind you that all of these are predictions, not political statements.
