Opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa said in a special statement in Colombo that he will come forward with the people against the fraud of the government which is trying to postpone the elections which undermines democracy.
The opposition leader said that the ruling party’s decision to bring the election expenses regulation bill to the parliament despite the opposition’s strong opposition in the party leader’s meeting in the parliament was a cunning tactic to delay the elections.
He said in a special statement at the opposition leader’s office that the Samagi Jana Balawega will come forward to secure democracy against this arbitrary decision and will lead it.
The leader of the opposition further said that the government has taken measures to violate the democratic rights and sovereignty of the people through this and it can be termed as another extension of the arbitrary actions taken by the government to postpone the election without holding it.
