Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to Visit Sri Lanka May 3–5 to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

The President of the Republic of Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, is scheduled to undertake an official visit to Sri Lanka from May 3 to May 5. Sri Lanka Latest News

The visit is being made at the invitation of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

During the visit, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries across multiple sectors.

The proposed agreements include:

  • A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Defence and National Services of the Republic of Maldives and the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University of Sri Lanka, focusing on the organization of training programmes, implementation of personnel exchange initiatives, and the conduct of joint research activities.
  • A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Skills Development of the Maldives and the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education of Sri Lanka, aimed at cooperation in the training and professional development of teachers and school leaders.
  • A Memorandum of Understanding on Academic Cooperation between the Ministry of Health, Family and Welfare of the Republic of Maldives and the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka.
  • A Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Tourism between the Republic of Maldives and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
  • A Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Archives between the National Archives of the Republic of Maldives and the National Archives Department of Sri Lanka.
  • A Memorandum of Understanding on Sports and Youth Development between the Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Fitness of the Republic of Maldives and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of Sri Lanka.
