Mahinda Rajapaksa Not Invited to National Victory Day Ceremony – Media Secretary
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has not received any invitation for the National Victory Day celebration scheduled to be held tomorrow (19), according to his Media Secretary, Attorney-at-Law Manoj Gamage.

Attorney-at-Law Manoj Gamage stated that claims suggesting Minister Upali Pannilage had invited the country’s 5th Executive President, Mahinda Rajapaksa, to the event are false.

He further said that the Minister had misled the public by claiming that Mahinda Rajapaksa had been invited to the Victory Day celebration. Manoj Gamage emphasized that any official invitation for such a national event should be issued either by the Presidential Secretariat or the Ministry of Defence.

The “National Victory Celebration” is scheduled to take place tomorrow (19) at the War Heroes Memorial in Battaramulla under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, marking the 17th anniversary of the war victory.
