The Central Bank of Sri Lanka’s official reserve assets were valued at 1,815 million US dollars at the end of July 2022. This represents a 2.1 percent decrease from the $1,854 million seen in June 2022.
Foreign exchange reserves, the main component of these reserve assets, fell by 2.2 percent in July, from $1,746 million to $1,708 million.
However, because there are conditions in using the foreign exchange facility worth 1.5 billion dollars from the People’s Bank of China, which is included in this foreign exchange reserve, the amount of foreign exchange reserves that the central bank can use is limited to 208 million dollars, according to these data.
