Pregnant mothers and lactating mothers mentioned that the project of providing nutritional bags has been stalled for many months and that they are in a lot of trouble with the rising prices of goods and food.
The Secretary of the Ministry of Children and Women’s Affairs, Mr. Neil Bandara Hapuhinna was asked about this and he said that the project of providing nutritional bags to pregnant and lactating mothers has been stalled due to lack of funds.
He stated that provision has been requested for its resumption.
The Secretary stated that the provision will be received within this month and after that it will be started immediately.
He mentioned that under this nutrition project, measures will be taken to provide a nutrition bag worth 4,500 rupees to over one hundred and fifty five thousand pregnant and lactating mothers.
