Mr. Dhammika Perera, a billionaire businessman, came to Kataragama temple as usual in 2022 to pray for the Kataragama God and the temple.

Mr. Dishan Gunasekara, the ‘Nilame’ of the Kataragama temple, had met Mr Dhammika Perera there and made some requests to Mr. Dhammika Perera.

This was an invitation to visit the temple’s computer lab, which was set up to help Kataragama children whose education had been disrupted due to the spread of the Corona -19 virus. This computer lab, which is affiliated with DP EDUCATION.

Mr. Dishan Gunasekara took the initiative to establish this laboratory for the children of low-income parents who earn a living by selling flowers in and around Kataragama temple.

As a result, when Mr. Dhammika Perera went to the computer lab in response to his invitation, he found a small computer lab with 10 computers run by the temple. Mr. Dhammika Perera, who was heartbroken to see it, did everything in his power to develop this laboratory from that day forward.

As a result, Mr. Dhammika Perera, who merged this laboratory with the DP CODING school under DP EDUCATION, was able to quickly transform it into a modern laboratory with 48 computers.

As a result, it is a remarkable fact that 1000 children out of 4000 in Kataragama are receiving computer education in this lab.

Mr. Dhammika Perera has also created an environment in which children who learn IT in this laboratory can receive free education at the University of Moratuwa.

Dishan Gunasekara Nilame of Kataragama Temple, who expressed his thoughts on the matter, stated that Kataragama will undoubtedly become the best IT city in Sri Lanka in the near future.
