Former Deputy Minister Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan, widely known as Karuna Amman, has officially joined the Eastern Tamil Alliance, a political coalition formed by former State Minister Sathasivam Wiyalendran with the objective of contesting the upcoming local government elections.
The memorandum of understanding for this alliance was signed today (22) at a private hotel in Batticaloa, marking a significant political development in the region.
Notably, former State Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, also known as Pillayan, had previously aligned himself with this coalition. Following discussions with Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan, both Chandrakanthan and Wiyalendran have now formally joined forces under the Eastern Tamil Alliance.
According to reports, the trio plans to contest the local government elections in the Batticaloa district as part of this year’s provincial elections.
