Kandy Municipal Council Deputy Mayor Ruwan Kumara Galapitiya (National People’s Force) was attacked by a group of individuals in the Suduhumpola area, a senior officer at the Kandy Police Headquarters confirmed.
According to the police, the incident occurred following an argument during the Deputy Mayor’s visit to a charity house in Suduhumpola. Following the attack, Deputy Mayor Galapitiya lodged a formal complaint with the Kandy Police Headquarters.
An investigation has been launched, and a police team has been deployed to apprehend those responsible for the attack, the officer added.
