The National People’s Power has planned to start a series of agitations from today (08) with the aim of allowing the referendum to be held immediately.
Mr. Sunil Handunnetthi, the former Member of Parliament of Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna mentioned that the first protest will be held today in front of the Rajagiriya Election Commission.
All the candidates who have appeared in the local government election representing the national people’s power are going to participate in that campaign.
Mr. Sunil Hadunnetthi mentioned that the protest program will continue until the local government elections are held.
Meanwhile, the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court has issued an injunction against 26 people, including National People’s Power Member of Parliament Mr. Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
It is related to the protest organized by that party to be held in front of the Rajagiriya Election Office today.
This order has been issued to prevent agitation on several roads during the protest.
This injunction applies to 26 people including Vijitha Herath, KD Lalkantha, Sunil Handunnetti, Wasantha Samarasinghe.
This order has been issued prohibiting holding protests and blocking roads along Kota Road, Nawala Road, Sarana Road, Election Office Access Road, Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte Road.
The Welikada Police had made a request to the court stating that due to these protests, there will be a blockade of the schools where the general examination is held and also public oppression.
