Mr. Kapila Dahanayake, a prominent geologist in the island, said that if the recent earthquakes in Monaragala area happen again and increase in magnitude, it could be a matter of regret.
He said that if such shocks continue to occur in that area and the strength of those shocks increases, attention should be paid.
“The magnitude of the tremors on February 10 and 11 was about 3. “So it is not a matter of concern, but if more shocks are repeated and the magnitude of such shocks increases, it can become a serious problem,” he said.
He also stated that there is no connection with the Monaragala tremors and the fatal earthquake in Turkiye.
