The Election Commission is scheduled to meet again next week to decide on the next steps to be taken regarding the holding of the local government elections.
The Chairman of the Election Commission Mr. Nimal G. Punchiheva mentioned that the commission is scheduled to meet again on April 4th.
The Election Commission has recently announced that the marking of postal votes related to local government elections will be postponed indefinitely, although it was earlier planned to start today (28).
Accordingly, the poll related to the local government election on April 25 will not be held.
