Quoting a senior official of the Iranian government, foreign media reports that the helicopter in which the president was traveling was completely burnt down.
The plane crash took place in a mountainous area of Iran and it is said that the plane may have crashed due to heavy fog.
The search teams have found the place where the plane in which the President was traveling crashed.
Iranian President Raisi and a group of senior officials of the country attended the opening of a dam on the Iran-Azerbaijan border yesterday (19).
After the ceremony, while the helicopter carrying the Iranian President and other people was returning, due to heavy rain and wind, it made an emergency landing in the mountainous forest area of Dismar between the cities of Varsakan and Jolfa in East Azerbaijan province.
On April 24, Mr. Raisi came to Sri Lanka to inaugurate the Uma Oya project.
