The Senior Superintendent of Police in charge of Anuradhapura division Mr. K.J. Pushpakumara made a complaint to the Anuradhapura Police Station yesterday (15). Sri Lanka Latest News

Sergeant Dissanayake, who is attached to Hurigaswewa Police Station in Anuradhapura, has filed a complaint with the Anuradhapura Police stating that the Senior Superintendent of Police in charge of the division had threatened to scold him, and he in turn scolded him.

This incident happened last 12th.. Based on a report received by the Senior Superintendent of Police that the police sergeant was having a close relationship with a female officer working at the police station, this officer was transferred from Hurigaswewa Police Station to Vilachchiya Police Station. It is said that this officer has been transferred on the basis of service requirements.

He has come to the Superintendent of Police office with his wife to inquire about this. The two of them were loitering there for hours and were not given a chance to meet the Senior Superintendent of Police. He has told his PSO to meet the SSP but the officer has said that the transfer will not be canceled at all. Finally, after about 5 hours, the Sergeant got the opportunity to meet the Superintendent of Police through the intervention of a Chief Inspector working in the Superintendent of Police’s office.

There, this sergeant told the Superintendent of Police that he did not have an affair with the concerned officer and that she was his relative. Even the police officer’s wife has told the Superintendent of Police that. It is stated that the Superintendent of Police has said that this transfer will not be canceled at all. Then this officer said that if he is being transferred for disciplinary reasons, why was the transfer done without mentioning it and saying that it was for service needs? Police information stated that there was a loud argument between the two.

In this regard, the Senior Superintendent of Police has complained to the police and mentioned that the sergeant entered his office with his wife, called in a loud voice and asked why he had been transferred and threw some leaves in his hand on the table. Then the sergeant threatens him and asks the reason for the transfer and cancels the transfer? no? The Senior Superintendent of Police has also said that he was asked to go.

The Senior Superintendent of Police has also stated in his complaint that he made this transfer based on a report submitted to him after an investigation into a notification made by the Hurigaswewa Police Station to the Tambuttegama Assistant Superintendent of Police. The Senior Superintendent of Police has further stated in his complaint that this sergeant was provoked and scolded him with harsh words and threatened him with death.

The Senior Superintendent of Police has made this complaint after the complaint made by the Sergeant. A senior police officer said that an investigation is being conducted by the Anuradhapura DIG regarding both these complaints. This officer further mentioned that a complaint made by another police officer that she was scolded obscenely by this Senior Superintendent of Police is already being investigated under the Anuradhapura DIG.
