Officials said 225 million rupees was spent to relocate duty-free electronics stores to the second floor of the Bandaranaike International Airport.

The airport administration has set aside 1900 square metres on the second floor for 31 electronic goods stores.

According to reports, electronic stores have been relocated in order to improve the airport’s image.

“All duty free electronics shops have been relocated to the 2nd floor of the arrivals terminal building to improve the passenger experience in the duty free area of Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA),” the Airports and Aviation Authority said in a statement.

Two escalators and two glass elevators were installed, as well as a new structural steel staircase, the extension of three existing elevators, and the construction of four bathrooms.
