Bangladesh is taking steps to curb and prevent illegal practices or interference in its elections, officials said Thursday.

The Bangladeshi authorities have emphasized this a day after the serious statement made by the US Secretary of State Mr. Antony Blinken regarding the postponement of the elections in Bangladesh.

There, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had announced that the US is adopting a new policy to restrict visas to Bangladeshis, which undermines the democratic election process in the country.

“Government machinery will take necessary measures to prevent and address any illegal practices or interference to compromise the smooth and participatory conduct of the election,” Bangladesh’s foreign ministry said in response.

“The election process will be under strict vigilance, including international observers accredited by the Election Commission,” it said in a statement.
