A special meeting between President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Basil Rajapaksa is scheduled to be held today. Sri Lanka Latest News

It is known that this meeting is scheduled to be held as per the President’s request.

Political sources say that this meeting will be very decisive and that several issues that have arisen regarding the upcoming presidential election are to be discussed between the two.

However, last week, SJB Secretary General Ranjith Maddumabandara told the media that a proposal has been submitted by those parties to give Ranil Wickramasinghe the post of Prime Minister under the leadership of Sajith.

It is learned that Mr Basil Rajapaksa is ready to directly question the President about this in today’s meeting.

It has been further learned that Mr Basil Rajapaksa is waiting for answers from Mr Wickramasinghe as to whether Mr Wickramasinghe will run for the presidential election, if so, whether he will compete in the open, or whether he will sincerely hope for the position of Prime Minister.
