In a letter sent to President Ranil Wickramasinghe, by Mr. Jagath Kumara Sumithraarachichi said that the Maha Sangharatna and clergy in temples across the country protesting about the electricity bill is not good for the government and the country and it may cause another wave of protests.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna’s Colombo District Member of Parliament Mr. Jagath Kumara Sumithraarachichi pointed out in the letter that relief should be given to the electricity bills of religious places and low-income people.

He also requested the President to provide provisions to the Paddy Marketing Board to get the farmers’ paddy harvest quickly at a guaranteed price.

Mr. Jagath Kumara points out that it has become problematic to maintain the Vehera temples and public places of worship maintained by the people in a situation where most of the people in the country are unable to make ends meet due to the large electricity bill that has increased by two or three times. He also said that he had fallen.

He also said that there is a situation where the Paddy Marketing Board is not getting money from the state banks to buy paddy.
