A group of unknown gunmen who came from a car shot the owner of a hotel in the Midigama area on the Matara, Galle main road yesterday (29) afternoon, and the injured person was admitted to the Matara General Hospital and died early yesterday (30), according to the Midigama police.
A 32-year-old man named Pasindu Sandaruwan Dodamgodage, the owner of the restaurant called ‘Chikki Manki’, has died of gunshot wounds. He was also shot on December 20, 2021, and investigations revealed that the attack was carried out by Harak Kata’s followers. The attack was carried out according to a contract given by Harak Kata from Dubai.
The deceased was shot while on a motorcycle in front of his hotel. The initial investigations conducted by the police have revealed that the people who fired came from a white Wagon R bearing the number CAQ 1484, and that they fired this shot using a T-56 firearm. The shooter’s car was found abandoned in Imaduwa area and investigations have revealed that it was taken from a car rental place in Matara 4 days ago. It is rented by a resident of Midigama. The police say that he is currently missing with his two children.
The police have now received information about the places where the Wagon R traveled from the time it was hired to the time it was abandoned. Police information revealed that several investigation teams are conducting investigations to identify the shooter and the persons involved in the murder and arrest the suspects.
