“There has been an issue in the process of preparing the module, and internal investigations are currently underway. As a government, we are working to correct these mistakes and to continue with education reforms. It is concerning that such an issue has occurred despite our decision not to use websites in textbook preparation,” Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya said today while explaining the problems identified in the first printing of the Grade 6 English module at the Malwathu Maha Viharaya.

She further stated that, in the future, the responsibility for printing textbooks will be assigned to the Department of Educational Publications. The Prime Minister emphasized that no child has been issued the modules in question and confirmed that all printed copies of the problematic module will be sealed pending further investigations.

Meanwhile, on January 08, the Mahanayake of the Asgiri Chapter, Most Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Maha Thero, met with the relevant Venerable Thero at the Asgiri Maha Viharaya to discuss the issue that has arisen in the first printing of the Grade 6 English module.
