However, the ban has been lifted on strict conditions, the newspaper reports.
Through a gazette notice issued by former President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa in April 2021, it was announced that the government has decided to suspend the activities of eleven Islamic organizations, including these five organizations.
Jamiatul Ansari Sunnatul Mohammadia, Sri Lanka Tauheed Jamaat, All Lanka Tauheed Jamaat, Lanka Tauheed Jamaat and United Tauheed Jamaat are the five organizations that have been banned.
However, even after lifting the ban, the activities of these organizations should be closely monitored, the expert committee has recommended.
