A special circular pertaining to the distribution of disaster relief was issued today (05). The circular aims to expedite the provision of assistance to rehabilitate the lives of individuals adversely affected by the recent emergency disaster situation.
A summary of the comprehensive disaster-relief package is as follows:
- Rs. 25,000 for the cleaning and restoration of each household damaged by floods.
- Rs. 50,000 for the purchase of essential items required for re-occupied residences.
- For families who have lost their homes due to landslides and are currently residing in evacuation centers, all necessary facilities will be provided at government expense.
- Those opting to rent alternative accommodation will be granted Rs. 25,000 per month for a period of three months, with the possibility of extending this support to six months.

- Households belonging to the above categories will receive a livelihood support allowance of Rs. 50,000 per month for three months, until their income sources are restored.
- If only two members remain in the household, Rs. 25,000 will be provided.
- If more than two members remain, Rs. 50,000 will be provided.
- Rs. 150,000 per hectare for damaged paddy and grain cultivations.
- Rs. 200,000 per hectare for damaged vegetable cultivations.
- Rs. 200,000 for each registered livestock farm affected.
- Rs. 200,000 for each registered small or medium-scale enterprise to recommence operations.
- Rs. 400,000 for each fishing vessel destroyed.
- Financial support for schoolchildren affected by the disaster:
- Rs. 15,000 from the Treasury, and
- Rs. 10,000 from the Presidential Fund,
totaling Rs. 25,000 per student.
- Up to Rs. 5 million for damaged business establishments, based on official damage assessments.
- Rs. 500,000 for the construction of a new house in cases of total loss.
- If the affected individual does not possess land, state land will be allocated.
- If government land cannot be provided, an allowance of up to Rs. 500,000 will be granted for land acquisition.

- For partially damaged houses, assistance up to Rs. 250,000, categorized as Rs. 100,000, Rs. 150,000, Rs. 200,000, and Rs. 250,000.
