Mr. Jagath Priyankara is to be appointed for the vacant councilor position in Puttalam district after the death of State Minister Sanath Nishantha in a road accident.Sri Lanka Latest News
He contested from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna in the last general election representing the National Freedom Front and he is next in the list of preferences in that district.
As the National Freedom Front currently represents the opposition in Parliament, Mr. Jagath Priyankara is also scheduled to sit in the opposition.
Accordingly, the ruling party will lose a seat and the opposition will gain a seat.
