The government budget for the year 2025 is set to be presented in Parliament today (17).
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, will present the budget at 10:30 a.m. This marks the first budget proposal under his leadership since assuming office as President.
Following the presentation, the second reading debate on the budget will take place over seven days, from February 18 to 25. The vote on the second reading is scheduled for February 25 at 6:00 p.m.
Subsequently, the committee stage debate on the Appropriation Bill will be conducted over 19 days, from February 27 to March 21. The final vote on the bill is set for March 21 at 6:00 p.m.
