The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has announced that it will launch a trade union action starting November 17, citing the government’s failure to address doctors’ concerns in the national budget, Sri Lanka Latest News reports.
This decision follows a resolution passed at the GMOA central committee meeting held yesterday.
As part of the action, it has also been decided that health clinics will not issue prescriptions for medicines to be taken outside hospitals.
In a related development, the Specialist Doctors’ Association (SDA) stated that all specialist doctors have been summoned to Colombo to discuss the next steps, following the government’s failure to provide permanent solutions to their issues as anticipated in this year’s budget.
