Former MP Udaya Gammanpila has alleged that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is deliberately delaying the appointment of the Auditor General until January 2026 in order to secure support within the Constitutional Council. He warned that unless the Leader of the Opposition insists on the joint nomination of all three independent members, the President could politicize key state appointments.
