The Cabinet has approved the allocation of the Galle face area only for the public to spend their free time.
The Sri Lanka Port Authority has undertaken to develop the Galle face as a social responsibility project.
That authority is going to spend about 220 million rupees for that.
6.6 million rupees have been spent only for repairing the property damage that happened in the area during the last struggle period.
Accordingly, after April 20, the Cabinet approved the proposal to provide Galle Face green to the public for free time and only for special religious activities.
Accordingly, musical performances that damage or may damage the beauty of the Galle mouth area, political meetings or other activities will not be allowed to be held in that area from now on.
