Fort Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura has directed the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to arrest and produce before court those who engaged in conduct aimed at influencing the judiciary.

The magistrate further ordered an investigation into individuals who had used mobile phones to record videos and take photographs during court proceedings, which were later circulated on social media.

She instructed that the relevant video footage and photographs be obtained from government, private sources, and social media platforms.

This matter arose during a recent court hearing, where it was revealed that certain individuals had acted in a manner that compromised the honor and discipline of the judiciary. Consequently, an investigation was ordered against them.

Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura stated that the investigations are being carried out under the charge of contempt of court. She stressed that, in compliance with the court order, those responsible for these unlawful acts must be identified immediately and brought before the law.

Additionally, the magistrate issued directives prohibiting the making of any statements that could potentially interfere with the ongoing investigations.
