Former State Minister Lohan Ratwatte has been arrested following the discovery of an unregistered luxury car at his wife’s residence in Mirihana, Nugegoda.

The vehicle, found on October 26, was located at a three-story home on Embuldeniya Hall Road, owned by Ratwatte’s wife, Mrs. Shashi Prabha Ratwatte. Police Headquarters received information about the unlicensed car, prompting an investigation by the Mirihana Police.

Upon notifying the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court, the Mirihana Police inspected the vehicle at the premises. Both Ratwatte and his wife stated that the house was occupied by Mrs. Ratwatte’s mother and explained that Ratwatte’s private secretary, recently shot dead in the Katugastota area of Kandy, had brought the vehicle to the residence’s garage three weeks prior.

Police faced challenges in transferring the unregistered vehicle, which also lacked keys, to the Mirihana Police Station.
