Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe paid a visit to Kandy, where he met with the Chief Prelates of the Malwathu and Asgiri Chapters and received their blessings.
During the visit, Mr. Wickremesinghe held discussions with the Chief Prelate of the Malwathu Chapter, Most Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Thero, and the Chief Prelate of the Asgiri Chapter, Most Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thero. The discussions focused on the prevailing political situation in the country.
At a separate meeting with the Chief Prelate of the Malwathu Chapter, Dimbulkumbure Sri Wimaladhamma Himaya, the Thero reportedly stated that one should make way for others when advancing in age.
Journalists were not permitted to cover these meetings. However, addressing the media later, the former President stated that he is not currently engaged in active politics.
