Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has been appointed as the Senior Adviser of the National Joint Mechanism on Food Security and Nutrition, headed by the President’s Secretary, Mr. Saman Ekanayake.
The first meeting of the program was held recently at the Bandaranaike Conference Hall in Colombo under the chairmanship of the President’s Secretary, and Mrs. Kumaratunga also participated in it as the senior advisor.
Commenting on the matter, the former president said that she agreed to act as the senior advisor of the program at the invitation of the government, as ensuring food security and nutrition is a subject of urgent national importance in the current situation.
