Former Deputy Inspector General of Police W. Tillakaratne was arrested in 2019 by the Central Crime Investigation Bureau over an incident in which he arbitrarily imposed a foreign travel ban on 704 officers attached to the Criminal Investigation Department, without obtaining a court order.
He was subsequently released on bail by the court.
