Mr. Ali Sabri, Minister of Foreign Affairs President’s Counsel says that he does not agree with certain aspects of the Anti-Terrorism Bill that has been presented.
He further stated while joining the 360 time program aired on ‘Derana’ that everyone in the government is of a common opinion that the bill should be amended.
“There are some things in general that I disagree with. I said it in the cabinet. The first is that I do not agree with allowing a DIG to issue detention orders. It cannot be given. Either it should be under the Minister or at least it should stay with the Defense Secretary. A broad definition is very dangerous. This can be misused. We are all at the point where everyone can speak in general, and it should be implemented as a law that can be used as an acceptable general law and not as an exception, and that can be used only in the case of terrorism.”
