The heinous criminals who broke into the house where a birthday party was held in Vavuniya’s Thonical area on the 23rd and committed a double murder, set fire to the house and seriously injured 09 people including 05 children, were arrested yesterday (31st) by a special team of the CID’s Homicide Investigation Division and remanded for 48 hours. Investigative sources say that they are being interrogated. (Sri Lanka Latest News)

Investigators have seized weapons including swords used in the attack, and 3 motorcycles said to have come for the attack.

These suspects were arrested from Madavaithakulam, Pampemadu, Sivapuram and Nelukulam areas of Vavuniya.

Residents of Vavuniya aged 24, 27, 31 and 34 have been arrested.

The secret police investigators have now revealed that this crime is not drug trafficking, but the implementation of a murder contract that was given after an affair turned into a conflict.

Investigative sources say that the young man who was later killed in this attack had an affair with a village official while living with his girlfriend, and another person who was in contact with the village official had given the contract to kill this young man.

It has now been revealed that the killers broke into Suresh’s house where a birthday party was held with the aim of killing the deceased youth.

Investigations say that the girl who died on the spot in the incident was scared and screamed when she first saw the killers coming, so she was beaten to death with a sharp weapon to silence her.

The young man, who was the mastermind of the killers, died while undergoing treatment at Vavuniya Hospital after receiving serious injuries.

The investigation department says that the arrested suspects are being interrogated at length and they will be produced in court tomorrow (02).
