for Several Provinces: Public Advised on Safety Measures

Issuing a heat index advisory, the Department of Meteorology says that the temperature felt on the human body is expected to increase up to ‘Caution level’ at some places in North-western, Western, Southern, and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in
Mannar District, today. 

The department also advises the general public that it is important for those working on job sites to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks in the shade whenever possible.

The advisory adds that people should check up on the elderly and those who are sick, Never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles,  limit strenuous outdoor activities, seek out shade frequently, prioritize staying hydrated, and Opt for lightweight clothing in white or light colours.
