Five Students Injured in Eppawala School Stabbing Incident

A student has attacked five other students with a sharp weapon at a government main school in Eppawala town, Sri Lanka Latest News reports.

The five injured students have been admitted to Eppawala District Hospital.

The injured students are all Grade 12 students from the Advanced Level Technology stream of a leading school in Eppawala town.

Police stated that the stabbing was carried out by a Grade 12 Science stream student of the same school.

It is reported that a clash had occurred a few days earlier between the student who carried out the stabbing and one of the students who was injured. In retaliation, a confrontation escalated this morning (13), leading to the attack with a sharp weapon.

According to reports, after one student was initially attacked with the sharp weapon, four other students who attempted to intervene were also injured.

The student who brought the sharp weapon into the school premises and injured all five students has been arrested by Eppawala Police, along with the weapon used in the incident.

Hospital sources confirm that the condition of the injured students is not serious.

Eppawala Police are continuing investigations into the incident.
