Five individuals who were arrested in connection with the tense situation that occurred in front of the Jaffna Tissa Temple have been released on bail of Rs. 100,000 each, reports Sri Lanka Latest News.

The arrests were made for acting in violation of a court order, police confirmed.

According to the Police Media Division, several local political representatives were among those taken into custody.

Police stated that a court order had been obtained earlier today to prevent a protest after receiving information that a group of individuals was planning to demonstrate in front of the Jaffna Tissa Temple.

Despite the court order, police further revealed that a group of individuals attempted to forcefully enter the temple premises.
