Statement issued just hours before the presidential election
IMF Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, issuing a statement, said that the IMF is planning to finalise Sri Lanka’s release programme discussion as soon as possible.
No sooner a government is established, an IMF team will come to Sri Lnak to finalise the discussion, Ms. Kristina said. She further said that the IMF is very much concerned about the difficulties Sri Lanka faces.
