An incident of a girl admitted to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital due to fever but part of her one had was surgically amputated. Sri Lanka Latest News
It is said that a part of an 8-year-old girl’s hand was cut off in Mallakam area.
After 04 days of fever, the said girl received treatment in a private hospital, but was admitted to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital due to her illness not being cured.
After that, the girl was fitted with a cannula at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital and drugs were given through it.
It is reported that doctors have surgically amputated a part of the girl’s arm due to the cannula causing the arm to be disabled.
Commenting on this, Northern Province Health Services Director General T. Sathyamurthy says that the incident is true and investigations will be conducted in this regard today.
He also mentions that an inspection committee has been established at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital for that purpose.
