The Sri Lanka Grama Niladhari Association has announced that all female Grama Niladharis will discontinue night shifts starting today (14) due to security concerns.
Colombo District President of the association, Mrs. Shamali Watsala Kulatunga, stated that measures will be taken to close offices located in unsafe and unpopulated areas, with plans to conduct official duties from more secure locations.
Meanwhile, Minister of Women and Child Affairs, Mrs. Saroja Savitri Paulraj, assured that necessary steps will be implemented to ensure the safety of women working night shifts.
She made this statement in response to a question from journalists in the Kandy area.
