Middeniya, Sri Lanka – A tragic shooting incident occurred at Kadawatta Junction in the Middeniya Police Division, resulting in the deaths of a father and his six-year-old daughter, police confirmed.
The attack was carried out by unidentified gunmen who targeted a man riding a motorcycle. The victim was shot dead on the spot. His two children, who were also on the motorcycle at the time, sustained injuries. The daughter was rushed to Tangalle Hospital, while the son was admitted to Embilipitiya Hospital for treatment.
The deceased has been identified as a 39-year-old resident of Galpottha Road. His daughter, who also lost her life, was about six years old.
According to initial police investigations, the perpetrators are believed to have used a T-56 assault rifle in the attack. Authorities have launched a thorough investigation to apprehend those responsible.
