The Department of Meteorology warns that the hot weather is increasing in many parts of the island. (Sri Lanka Latest News)

According to the announcement of the Department of Meteorology, North-West, North-Central, Eastern and Western provinces should be alerted for hot weather.

In addition, the Department of Meteorology stated that the heat index, i.e. the heat felt by the human body, is at a level that deserves attention in some places in Monaragala, Mannar, Ratnapura and Vavuniya districts.

The Department of Meteorology informs the people in those areas to follow health and safety measures.

Meanwhile, in the western Sabaragamuwa provinces, Galle and Matara districts, there may be rain in a few places today, according to the weather report.

The Director General of the Department of Meteorology, Mr. Atula Karunanayake, stated that from the 22nd, some parts of the island may experience several periods of rain in the evening.

However, he said that it will not affect the current hot weather.

From April 5th to 15th, the sun will be at its peak so the temperature may increase.
